To enter Malta from a rabies free country or a country with a low incidence of rabies, you will need to have your pet micro chipped and vaccinated for rabies at least 21 days prior to travel. An Import Certificate is also required.
A licensed veterinarian must complete the official EU Annex II veterinary certificate. If you are traveling from the US or Canada, the certificate will then be sent to the USDA or CFIA for certification. If you are entering Malta from a different country, the instructions will advise you of the proper procedure. Your pet will also need to be treated for Echinococcus (tapeworms) within 5 days of travel.

If you are entering Malta from a Country with a High Incidence of Rabies, quarantine can be avoided by having a Blood Titer Test done after vaccination and 3 months prior to travel. You will need to select the option above for additional forms and instructions.
